What should I do with a bunch of dead PSUs?

They are. When I was going through one every month or so you buy the cheapest ones you can find. Finally figured out it was a flakey cd-rom drive that was killing them. :| How could you tell though?

some of those fried spot looks like resisters. They can't take the heat anymore so.. poofff

how to pop/burn anything is to put lots of current/voltage into it.. when it's a lot more then what it designs for, it will pop.

Since you will be thorwing it away anyway, try a blow torch to remove those parts. Just do it from the back where all the soldering and legs are. Heat it up and tap, all of it should fall off.

Go to local library borrow some electronic books and read see how U can play around with these components.

O, another thing you can do is connect them together and build like lego man or something. That's what I did when I used to work in the electronic lab aid.
