so at one of the places i work, we recieved an email from a company representative, asking where he/she could post a job listing. this is addressed to the company i work for, not to me. but i really want to apply for that position (i could probably work both jobs - current and this new one). ethically, would it be wrong to reply to this email (from my own email account of course)? should i ask my manager for permission (since i'm not leaving my current job)? please post your thoughts on this, thanks.

I would have a talk w/ your manager, Gopunk. It's always better to secure a position and talk to your associates about it before venturing forth. I remember times when my friends would get "ahead of themselves" and get burned at the end. Talk to your manager about it, get his permission/approval, you'll feel a lot better about yourself, and you'll feel more assured!

Good luck!

I agree.. however, make sure you put in the text that you are looking for a new job because your current one doesnt pay enough.. Then cc your manager. :) j/k If you ask your manager about applying it might have consequences even if you do not get it.
