Yesterday's topics were.
"Don't smoke because my grandmother died from it"
"Children should be wear school uniforms"
and the winner...
"Don't waste food off of your plate, people are starving"
Painful to sit through
I can't think of anything clever. I'm just gonna wing it no matter what I end up picking.
6-8 minutes was the target
Update - Ended up doing my speech on how pointless the assault weapons ban was on actually reducing gun crime in the US. Military style rifles are used in 1.5% to 2% of gun crimes and are by far the most targeted.
Anyways, I sat through 5 other speeches, 3 were what I would expect from a college freshmen, and 2 were absolutely a sad display of idiocy.
One guy started sharing a story about how money was the root of all evil and that he sold drugs in high school and spent 10 months in jail for assault. All of this took about 2 minutes. He then spent about 2 minutes setting up video on youtube for us to watch. The video ended up being Pink Floyd - Money, which he played 2 minutes of, then said "thank you" and sat down. I guess he persuaded me... not to do drugs.
The next winner stood in front of the class for all of 90 seconds. He was persuading us to buy the more expensive model of radar detectors. He never mentioned any brand names, and finished by saying that he still got pulled over with a $200 radar detector.
