I have an amd Tbird 800mhz running at 800mhz on an Asus A7V board. I've been having some heat problems lately, and today my cpu fan died. It had been struggling lately, making loud noises on boot, and the speed was fluctuating a lot. Today it finally gave out (I know this from looking in Asus PC Probe). I'm going to take the computer in tomorrow (Thurs.) to get a new fan put on, but I'm thinking I might need a better quality fan than the normal ones that come with computers.
With a generic HSF my cpu is about 59 C under load.
I was wondering, what else could I use? A have an Aopen KF45a case, so its pretty roomy. What kind of HSF should I buy? It can't be anything too crazy, because I cannot do it myself (I suck at that kind of thing). I'd be getting the place where I bought my computer to put it on for me. So what HSF should I get? I'm thinking of getting a Globalwin FOP38 or something... www.2cooltek.com has them. Or, I might try getting some sort of dual fan (large heatsink with two fans side by side). I really don't know what I should get, but I need something very powerful to bring my cpu temperature down, and it needs to be something that isn't totally outlandish and won't cost $500 in labour (I AM NOT DOING IT MYSELF!!~!!~~). If anyone can offer any ideas/things I should buy, please tell me... thanks.
