What should CPU temp be???

I am new to AMD..here are my specs..
44.3 Celcius....This is 10 minutes after playing Q3 for an hour...
What should my temp be? Is Sandra wrong? Anything I could do different to bring it down?

True 1gig T-bird..at 1 gig..

Sandra is always wrong... sorry to sya that, but it is true.

Umm, what is your ambient case temperature? Chances are, that reading is a bit low and for the average case, your CORE chip temp is around 50C, but that isn't anything to wrry about.

Sandra is definately screwy in those readings. First off, how does the k7t pro2a read cpu temp? i heard there isn't a socket-thermistor...

I dunno..But the Utility that comes with the mobo shows the CPU temp at 44 celcius also with the chasis at 27 celecius...Touching the Heatsink it is cool to the touch..Maybe a tad warm..But not hot by any means.. I could touch it all night..Damn the jokes that can come out of computer hardware.. 🙂

i'm still trying to figure out how your mb reads cpu temp, but it looks like it is still under-approximating cpu core temp. But you should still be fine.

I'm also trying to find out the way MSI measures temperatures on their K7T boards. I asked MSI Germany but they were not helpful at all. If you find the solution could you please let us know here? 🙂
 
Still at that temp it is pretty good. You should flip back into bios and do a quick read of the temps there just to make sure.
 
as far as tempatures go
my general rule of thumb is

55+ is getting to hot
40-55 is doing ok
30-40 is nice and cool
<29 is absolutely great

though most CPUs will be ok above 55 degree's, its not a bad idea to add more cooling.
