Buying a pair of running shoes without trying them on is a bad idea. Even from one pair to the next the size can be off by half a size...let along from brand to brand. And then you have things like width and how the insole is moulded and if it feels good on your feet.

I understand but I guess it was just a combination of being lazy and wanting to gamble on it; it wasn't too expensive so if it becomes an issue I'll just get a new pair ( btw - I haven't purchased shoes in around 3-4 years so I'm not really wasting a ton of $ ).

I decided to purchase Nike Free shoes, http://i35.photobucket.com/alb...leticzone/IMG_0044.jpg

Please don't tell me you just ordered shoes online without knowing what kind of shoes you need and wearing them?

I have neutral feet, and I already wear size 11 Nikes - even if I tried those particular pair out they would be different from what one would normally get.

/facepalm

I just bought a new pair of New Balance shoes. My older 1085s were a size 9 D. My new 749s are a size 10 D(but almost went to a 2E). Shoes based on materials used, factory, etc will vary in fit for a particular size from the same company.

That article sucks for a variety of reasons but I am not in the mood to get on my pedestal. That said if you are serious about running either get fitted at a good running store or find somewhere with a liberal return policy. There is no where to get fitted around here so I went to Finish Line which had a 15 day return period. After going through a couple pair I have settled on a pair of Nike Vomero +3's. Yeah, at $130 they are not cheap but not having my feet and knees ache at the end of a run is worth twice that.
