any ideas? Wanted to get the Skechers Rebs but as you can see, the reviews are not very flattering which is too bad coz the Shoe looks great. oh well :( any other suggestions? I am looking for sth semi-formal which will go with Jeans or trousers. I live in India and I am going to ask my cousin to get one for me when he comes along so please let me have ur suggestions.

i dont like the way they look doc's

i got a great pair of shoes from american eagle for $25 on clearance :D

i like j. crew shoes also

re: Doc Martens, I haven't anything as good looking as the Skechers Rebs. checked nordstrom and few other sites. no luck :(

does skechers look fugly. I don't like oxfords with the big steel toes. Skechers kinda skimp on quality sometimes. I agree with the other suggestion...go to Jcrew!

Believe it or not, I have a pair of those, and although I don't wear them much anymore (currently wearing New Balance tennis shoes), I thought they were comfortable, and looked fine. A previous pair of Sketchers, however, developed cracks in the sole, between the tread (as someone else mentioned in a review).

Those shoes you linked to are fugly. Go with a nice pair of leather Docs. For 'semi-formal', they're the best. A bit expensive yes but I've had my pair since I was in 9th grade(i'm 20 now) and they still fit and look great.

LOL.. everyone's got an opinion, I guess :p :) I didn't buy mine for dress-shoe purposes, I bought them because at the time I wanted a big clunky pair of black shoes, that weren't high top.

Dr. Marten's High Shine
I wanted to get High Shine Shoes and this pair looks really nice, my only complaint is that the zipper is pretty conspicuous.

Let me know what you guys think.

The zipper thing doesn't appeal to me.. if it didn't have that, they'd be alright. I still like my brown leather ones best. :)

Simple rule to live buy: Buy the most expensive and comfortable shoes you can afford. By expensive, I don't mean overpriced Italian Loafers, I mean quality. With shoes more than anything else you get what you pay for. I have a 7 year old pair of Timberlands and the soles have barely worn down. I have a paif of Church's that look brand new after 3 years. I think you made the right decision with the Doc Marten's, they are known to last forever.

treat your feet well and they will keep you happy.

No doubt. Like I said, mine are still going strong after all these years.
