What screws do I use to attach my mobo to case?

My case came with a bag of different screws, there are longer ones, ones with round heads, and other ones. Which do I use to attach the mobo to the brass standoffs?

does it matter?

The proper screw to use is the fine thread screw with the large diameter head. The head of the screw almost looks like it has a washer attached, but it doesn't. This type of screw allows the force to be spread out so that the motherboard material is not damaged when the screw is torqued. Use of the washers is optional.

Washers? I've done this a million times and I've never seen any stinking washers!!!
Felt washers I'de use though, if i had known about this .. yes, ppl's right though, I use the ones with the big head too.
I find that the head is about the same size as the metal ring around the hole (this is grounded no?) on the PCB

Large head screws that look like they have washers (but don't really have them). Felt is a luxury.

Heck, if you cannot break something electronic, why have it?

isn't there two types of those screws with the "built in" washer? On the underside of the head of the screw there are some that are flat and some that jagged. Which one do you use then?

For my Lian-Li case: M/B Fixed Screw #6-32*8

6-32 is the threading. 8 is the length in mm.

Jagged.

They look about like this, except a little longer and with the lagged bottom. I don't think the jagged bottom really matters, but it does provide a better cold solder if one isn't using washers and if the motherboard uses that pad for a ground (I haven't seen good answers about this one).
6-32*.25"

The felt washers are to relieve mechanical stress so that the board is not damaged if it is exposed to a wide temperature range. I generally don't bother.

Although there are some different sizes:
Motherboard mounting nuts

The top one is the standard one with 6-32 threads. The middle one uses 4/40 threads, and the bottom one uses 3mm.

On all of the comps I've built, I have used the machine screws with the dual hex/phillips head. This also has the integrated "washer"..

I build alot of computers and it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Before I install the mobo I pair the screws up with the standoffs so I am organized for the mobo insertion,

I echo AUSM's statement - each case comes with a bag of screws and posts that are simply matched. I also always use a fiber washer . . . they come in the bag also.

The hex/philips head combos are nice - lend themselves to a small electric driver that has a slip torque.

I usually try to use 6 - but 5 will do nicely.
