The text is a little hard to read. Perhaps make it a bit lighter.

The major issues I see are color choice
A) the gray text on gray bg is hard to read
B) Dark gray and orange do not convey a sense of "cute". They do more to convey a sense of warning or danger. I'd suggest a lighter, more colorful palette.

I'm trying to figure out a good color choice. I agree its a problem but I'm having a hell of a time fixing it.

EDIT: Changed the colors...still unsure on the background color...

You need some kind of border between the center section and it's surrounding background.
