Probably around 300K.

Thing is just breaking 6 figures isn't all that much when you have "real life" bills and goals.

And that is in really low cost of living midwest.
true if your wife doesn't have a salary herself... dual income helps a lot.

I'm single, no children, I (barely) make 6 figures, in Dallas, Texas, and I'm not rich. I can't buy a new Ferrari.

I think $300k a year would fulfill my current needs, but who knows what kind of needs I'd have if I made $300k a year. 😉

Uh, those are not needs you're talking about ...

So? I want that Ferrari. It's important to me. But it's still a few years off. A new m5 though, might be in the near future. 😉

Funny how you don't answer the question though.😉

To be satisfied, I would need to be making at least $250K a year.🙁 Real estate prices are crazy in NJ now.

Agreed ... by the time I actually make as much as I think I want to to be satisfied, the amount required for satisfaction will increase.

Sounds like my in-laws.

I have no idea what they make, but I am guessing in the $500K to $1M range. Lawyer(succesful one, not hte average)+teacher+20 rental units.

Oh wow.

My mother is a doctor with her own pediatric practice and my father is an engineer/audiologist who owns his own hearing aid practice with 3 offices in the L.A. area

I don't know what they make exactly, but since they take a lot of pride in what they've done, considering where they come from, they really want me to do better than they have done.

🙁

Its a vicious trap. Golden handcuffs.

Since im in dublin and this is one of the most expensive places in the world.....100k

But since im a minimalist all I need is a room with a internet connection desk medium bed and then a small kitchen so 75k

For me, it is a balance of freedom to do what I want, the ability to be spontaneous.
That and enough money to have fun when I take off.
If I could work 150 days a year and get $300 for each of them, that would be fine.
We live very frugally day to day, but do not hesitate to lay it out on vacations🙂

just because a kids parents are rich doesn't necessarily mean that he is spoiled

Spoiled. Work during school, you sissy. 😉

btw, he is a nerd too... not all nerd are as gifted as he is thought, he must have an iq of 300 ;O
The average human iq is a 100, whereas mine is like 30

Interesting...

To be "satisfied" with my salary, I'd need to make enough to afford to finance a nice house on a lake. Maybe a small boat and a sports car in the garage as well, but I can get those later.

Unfortunately, since Connecticut real estate is so expensive, I'd need to make $100K a year to pull that off 🙁

Doing?

looking at the avatar take a wild guess.

😉

😱

😀

OOPS! 😉

Don't need to look at my avatar....just my forum name! 😉

Same here 🙂

For an honest figure, I'd like to be making about $20K more than I am now. I could do that, but the trick is finding the right job at the right time.

Trust me, money is not the key.

Then howcome people that own jetski's are always smiling when they're riding them? You have to have money to run those things, and they're grinning ear to ear!!!!!

I dunno about that.

But I once 'dreamed' of making six figures in a single year. Wow....I just couldn't imagine it.

Amazing thing is that when I finally accomplished that goal....it was satisfying for like a day or two if you get my drift.

Sorta like an illusion or a nasty drug. You just never quite make enough or get enough to be truly satisfied.

Seems like you are on a constant perpetual road to getting there but just never can reach the destination...ever.

You do know that the numbers after the decimal point don't count towards a six figure number, right? 😀
