People.. It's saying that after the amount listed, there are fast diminishing returns of happiness.

It's understood that most of us, and in fact most people, make less than these numbers. That doesn't mean you can't be happy. I am sure there are quite a few people out there that are happy with almost nothing to their names.

It's just saying that after this amount, it doesn't really matter anymore.

Unfortunately, this is never the case in the real world. We are consumers. Most people, when faced with more money, will simply spend more money. Bigger house, luxury cars, ultra expensive things. Right up to their budget..and beyond, in a lot of cases. See: lottery winners

It seems to me this whole idea is geared towards the lower and middle class, since they are the ones most likely to acknowledge what they could have if they made even twice as much as they do now.

I call BS on a lot of what's listed. Worcester/Springfield, MA and the majority of Maine are not equal to Boston in cost of living.

A family of 4 lives very well here on about $36k. I imagine the threshold is therefore pretty low...say around $50,000.

College Town (Gainesville, FL) - $74,250
Home Town (Miami, FL) - $90,000

I think that since Gainesvilles main tourist attraction (Tim Tebow) is gone, cost of living will drop somehow :hmm:

Where I live, $40k pays for everything you would need as long as you dont live on a lake/golf course.

It's been ok...first week was pretty much hell...we had a hard time adjusting, work was a bit overwhelming, we were super homesick and had a hard time unpacking.

Now, things are a bit better...I think we'll have a lot of fun once my wife lands a job and we can get cable/internet hooked up. TW is dicking us around since the previous tenants never canceled their service.

If I can do something about the drug dealers that like to hang out on our porch, and maybe stop all the jackasses from screaming outside our window at midnight or later, it might even be nice.

FUCK that...

I'm glad that I'll be happy living in any of those cities listed. Oh, and screw New York! Are the hookers and blow really that much more expensive in NY than elsewhere?
