It seems like when I install some of the DivX players they don?t work very well, or cause my Win Media Player to start having problems. I know sounds like user error.

Is there a way do update Windows Media Player to play DivX?

Or maybe some other that will do it all?

What do you use and why?

Thanks guys for any help/info.
:D

WMP has no problem playing DiVX as long as you install the software from DiVX.com
I don't need any other players, but WMP 9 sucks. I use the version 6.4 sometimes.

That's the way I have it setup on my rig as well, except I use WMP v. 8.00 :)

Download DivX Video 5.0.3 for Windows :)

My favorite media play is PowerDVD, but I don?t use it to play Divx/Xvid.

Just download the codecs and use WMP.

ATI File player. If not that then PowerDVD 4.0. But for some reason PowerDVD will not play DVD's no matter what, but when I fire up ATI DVD player it plays perfectly.

Just make sure you have allt he current codecs and there shouldn't be a problem.
EDIT:
I use the regular alpha DivX player from their website.

ZoomPlayer is by far the best media player if you are talking about Divx/Mpeg/DVD. It has a great interface that is more customizable than any other player I have tried. It is designed to be the easiet to use with a TV-out (and most customizable for this also) and this is a big draw for me since I made a headless box w/remote I use as a Divx/DVD Player.
