I`m not going to bother with DDR boards so my question is does anyone know what`s in the pipeline after DDR(I know about QDR).

Since you know about QDR memories, I think IBM has a memory compressor between the cpu & ram & chipset thus making it more efficient... rambus square has some awesome bandwidth but not sure how much it'll cost.. probably cost two arms and two legs instead of one..

yea memory compression will probably occur sometime soon (I wonder how much lag it gives you though).

ALSO, there are many experimental memory types (magnetic RAM etc) under developement by many companies.. far too many to track for me.

after compression, I would think that some sort of move to serial will HAVE to occur. I mean, sortof like RAMBUS, but not implimented in their way (I'm sure you can achieve high mhz without having to use the exact same method as them).

Whats the point in skipping a generation?
Is it one of these well look the next gen will be out in 6 mos. well 6 mos. from that what than. The way I see it is that get the best you can & get as familiar with every generation as you can. for there is no future without a past. I am doing DDR & everything else that will cross my path if for no other reason than because I dont want to miss anything.

(accept rambus)

Was That a Joke NFS4 ?

I like to get my money`s worth out of my hardware, why waste money on buying the latest thing all the time so you can say mine is better then yours, anyway I`ve always upgraded every 2 years & see no need to change that right now,btw I`ve just upgraded so definetly I will not be buying a new board or CPU for quite awhile(about 2 years).

I think the next big upgrade for people on this board will be DDR boards with 2 or more Athlon CPU's. Want to bet?

Well, DDR SDram nad Rambus are both DDR RAm technologies...I assume Quad-data-rate would be the enxt step... after that, who knows...maybe theend of DRAM? (sorry for any incorherance...my friend jeff's 21st birthday was tday :)...i'm tring to stay awke as long as possbile before crashing).
