I'll print this out. It's been 33 years since I was on the island, and it was a great time. Have you ever stayed in a hotel on the island? Where did you leave your car?

I'd love to see the pictures. Are they digital? I don't want to see you have to bother with scanning them if they're not.

I intend to take the carriage ride(s), bike rental and anything else the boys might want to do. I figure if it's raining, we'll have to take in some shows or museums or something.

Yes, i have stayed at the Lakeview hotel and left the car in the ferry parking lot. Those that stay overnight get special secured parking, covered, if you pay it. The hotels on the island are all "old fashioned" except the Missionpoint Resort. In all honesty, i dont like the old style hotels, and preferred the jacuzzi suites we had in Mackiaw City. Rates on the island are very good. $89 for a room at the Lakeview currently(Mackinac.com).

They are digital. Let me get them.

We took the 16 person carraige and it was pretty cool. They tour guide gave us alot of facts that most dont. The indian cave you will see on the tour is not the real one, they just say it is because its on the tour :D

Actually, I'd prefer to stay right on the island. I was just worried about leaving the car God knows where. Found a cool map. I don't know if I should try and track down tickets before going or not. With my luck, the prices there will be cheaper than what I pay online!

here is a gallery of pics. The first 3 were taken like a week after 9/11, hence the flags at half staff.

Leaving your car is no problem. I am not sure of the rates off the top of my head, but they are cetainly not bad, cheaper than you would pay going back and forth a few times.

How much of a people person are you? The sothern rd on Mackinac is EXTREMELY crowded. Becareful when biking not to run over any horse droppings, either ;)

Hah! I notice you managed to avoid too many people in your pictures :) Nice shots BTW.

I'm thinking we'll head up north on bikes for sure. I really don't like crowds much. Gotta find quiet places to eat, too. Found out my wife has an extra day of vacation, which we don't have booked. We have to head back toward Cleveland from Mackinaw City. I wonder if there's anyplace else we should check out on the way back? It would be nice to divide that 7 hour trip with one more hotel stay in between...
