Im looking for a good RSS reader to replace my limited on . i used sage on firefox. I love the fact that only a hot key away when im in my browser and it being in the sidebar but i wish it had more options.

I've only used Sage for Firefox before, but since I just re-installed, I read that Brief is simple like Sage but more updated and has more features. I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds like it'll fit my needs.

Maybe I'm missing out on something, but even as something as simple as Sage was sufficient for me. I made an initial list of RSS feed bookmarks in Firefox, and just point Sage to that directory, and haven't done a thing since then!

Huh, Brief doesn't seem to work. I pointed it to my folder of RSS feed bookmarks that I used with Sage (extensions .aspx, .xml, and .rdf). They were whatever links were on main pages like Slashdot that said 'RSS Feed'.

I was under the impression that Brief was just like Sage but better. But Brief is looking for the location of my Live Bookmarks. I always figured Live Bookmarks was just Firefox's fancy name for RSS feeds. I guess not... nothing shows up in Brief. I guess it's back to old and outdated Sage, but it's simple and it works. Maybe I could try my hand at beginning CSS and make a custom stylesheet for my articles. 🙂

thanks for pointing out brief , i may have to check that out

Also sage appears to save the rss feeds as links not live feeds thats why it dosent work.

I found this on briefs homepage

This is not really an "issue" but remember that the feeds you have in your bookmarks must be Live Bookmarks (not feed addresses saved as regular bookmarks) for Brief see them

I set up a 2nd tab on my google homepage and use two google reader widgets. I hate the actual google reader page, but the widgets work great for me.
