Shut off kicks in at 100, and she's got room to go. So, I havent really paid attention to what the engine is turning, as its not the limiting factor.

He means what RPM's your engine is running at in final gear. How hard is that to figure out?

Your engine (some part of it. The crankshaft or something, I don't know anything about cars) turns at a certain speed based on your vehicle's speed and the gear you're in.

When my car is travelling 60mph in 5th gear, the engine is turning at 2,500 revolutions per minute.

They're not laughing with you, their laughing at you, because V6 means that the 6 cylinders form a "v" shape. V4s are, from what I can gather, exceedingly rare.

I knew that, it's just easier to say V4 :p

Yeah, that V is closer to the 4 on the keyboard and all ;) Sorry, I'm just a nitpicker when it comes to cars :D

I still don't get it. You can travel 100mph or 50mph in the 5th gear, right? Revolutions will always be different.

Correct, and he's asking what RPM your motor turns at X speed

60MPH = XRPMs, get it?

Right. For my specific vehicle, it is 2500 revolutions at 60mph. It takes 3200 for 70mph and so on. My car is small and underpowered, and that's why it has such high rpms at such low speeds.

According to randy's ring and pinion,calculator;
i am turning aprox 2700 rpm at 60 mph in my Camaro.

aprox 4400 rpm at 100 mph

and about 5700 rpm at 130mph,which would be about as far as i would want to push the engine.

3.50 gears, aprox 26.8 inch tall rear tires,1:1 final manual tranny,gear.
