What rigs are you running, and what do they do?

I have 2 PC's both used for D²OL
What about all the other members of this forum?
How many PC'S do you have, and what are they used for ?
If you've seen it all before, just ignore this :D
Edit:
New PC Athlon XP 1900+ used almost exclusively as a cruncher.
Old PIII800 used for anything, including games :D
Especially Unreal Tournament if you're up to it!!!

When you create a new topic, there is a checkbox below to create a poll to go along with it. I don't know if you can still create it with an edit.

I have 2 machines running BTW.

Well it's better to say rather than a poll (would be too many options!)

My "fleet" consists of:

AMD Athlon XP1800+, 512MB PC2100 DDR, WinXP Pro - My main rig, used for everything, running Seventeen Or Bust
AMD Duron 850, 284MB PC133, Win2k Server - My Server, runs SB, my website and occasionally (LAN parties etc) CS and UT2k3 servers
P3 500, 128MB PC100, Windows Longhorn 3683 - Runs SB, nothing else. Is my "playing" PC, currently running Windows Longhorn Alpha, might use it to learn Linux
P4 2.4@2.88, 512MB PC2700 DDR, WinXP Pro - Parent's machine, runs SB and whatever they are using it for (not much normally :))

P2 400, 96MB PC100, Windows 98lite - Is in car as MP3 player, uses my iPAQ 3630 32mb for controlling Winamp via a plugin called SnowCrash (modified to fit nicely on the iPAQ's small screen). This doesn't run any DC project, as it slows the startup time (critical for in-car use)

Confused,
Since you're advertising it, can I ask what is Longhorn ? I take it it's some sort of OS, possibly M$, and is it any good ????
I've seen this mentioned on the pro-networks forum.

Longhorn is the "new" OS being released by MS in a couple of years. It's the next workstation/home OS. This is a VERY early Alpha version, build 3683, leaked onto the internet recently. I haven't had a chance to have a play with it properly yet, due to unpacking and other stuff to do with moving house 2 weeks ago, as well as looking for a job. It seems to run a touch slow on the P3 at the moment, but that's probably mainly due to lack of RAM. There are still a lot of options that don't work, but then being a VERY early alpha, i don't expect it to.

Visually, it's similar to WinXP (screeshot of it, with a custom background), only the sidebar that is different/new.

But, as i said, it's only really been a case of installing it, SB and leaving it for now, however I will have a play some time soon :)

Tonight i'm sippin' on a few "adult beverages". I didn't last night 'cause i had to work this morning.
Currently listening to some KYUSS.

Oh yeah, the original piont of this thread.
2 systems at home, both XP 1800's, usually running SETI, but i'm toying with SoB on one of them at the moment.
The Windows XP system is my main, general use system.
The other, Win 98SE, is at the moment not being used for much, but i have some home recording software for it if i ever learn how to play the synth i have.

1x Athlon XP 1700+ @ 1600 MHz
1x Athlon XP1600+ @ stock (1400 MHz)

They both run D2OL from when they are booted to when I shut them down at night, assuming D2OL isn't having problems, which is rather rare,

Ouch....carefull! Unless I am mistaken, longhorn is the beginning of palladium. Palladium=EVIL

Here's how Palladium works
By Robert Lemos
Special to ZDNet
November 7, 2002, 5:21 AM PT
URL: http://zdnet.com.com/2100-1104-964902.html

Computers that incorporate Palladium or the TCPA design should have a range of new functions, from preventing piracy to protecting corporate information. Several steps are involved, which are outlined below.

Prevent piracy
? Jeff wants to download the latest music CD.
? When Jeff tries to retrieve the music from a legitimate music site, the server checks to make sure his PC is trusted.
? Once his PC is OK'd, Jeff downloads the music, key parts of which are coded to his computer.
? Jeff can listen to the music, but if he tries to send it to someone else's PC, it won't play.

Protect corporate info
? Jeff wants to send the latest marketing plan to his employees, but wants to ensure the information isn't leaked.
? His e-mail software codes the message so it can only be opened on a trusted PC and restricts the message so it can't be forwarded or printed.
? The message is sent to employees.
? Employees can read the message, but their own trusted e-mail client won't let them forward or print it.

Limit Internet attacks
? An attacker who wants to take over Jeff's system may send Jeff a Trojan horse, a malicious program that appears to be benign.
? Thinking the program is a fun utility, Jeff runs the Trojan horse.
? The Trojan horse runs and perhaps accesses some unprotected data.
? As long as Jeff doesn't run the program in the PC's trusted environment, any protected data is still restricted.

Restrict applications
? Jeff writes a letter using a particular application, say Microsoft Word.
? Word could use the trusted PC's functions to encrypt the letter, blocking other applications from accessing it.
? Jeff decides to switch to another application, say Corel's WordPerfect.
? While WordPerfect can understand the format in which the letter is saved, it can't open the letter, because it is protected.
