1280x1024 60hz (lcd monitors)
with a geforce 6800, 4xaa, 8xaf high quality in all games
with a geforce 4 ti4200 no aa/af, medium quality settings in new games (I don't mind 30fps)
Not sure why everyone thinks they need a $300+ video card to play new games.. Nvidia must be good at marketing. And well, ATI is just good at having high prices
800x600, no AA, no AF, all low settings, 17fps on my craptastic GeForce 4 MX 420 on a 19" Flat CRT. These things are rated even lower than a Ge Force 2 gts. crap. I would do 640x480 but my monitor's resolution seems to be help to 800x600 (640x480 blows up the pixels and makes the screen and text unreadable)
same but my computer can do 1600x1200+ easy and i do have a monitor that can handle high res but i find it hard to play FPS on higher res than 1600x1200. target become to small from long distance ;( . BF2
I forgot to mention, old games at 2048*1536 @ 75hz Did I mention the 4xAA and 8xAF! You should so those older UT2k3 engined games run like that! Beautiful and smooth!
I wish I could use that resolution comfortably in more games. Out of the stuff I have, it only works smoothly in Unreal, UT, Deus Ex, Freespace 2 and MDK2 (all are at least five years old), and AA is out of the question.
1280 x 1024/960 @ 60Hz (LCD) w/4x Tr SSAA and HQ forced, and crank up whatever in-game options there are.
Not sure why people think the 7800GTX is only for 1600 and up. With the above settings, I get great frame rates, but it can still dip into the 30's now and then in a couple of games. As powerful as the 7800GTX is, upcoming games will probably be best run at 1280 x 1024/960 anyway.
