What Resolutions do you game at?

Considering I recently made my new pc (and before I sent out my Mobo....Its been 2 weeks and I haven't even got a farking e-mail from them) I "upped" the ante so to say

I now proudly game at 1024*768 in 16bit color 🙂

Before I was stuck at pathetic 640*480 resolutions...now CS looks SO much better. If only my card could be "stronger" I might turn it up to 32bit color...but till then I'm happy

I tried AF and it made some games textures look sharper (CS ;0) ) but it seemed kinda useless so i turned it off...

that and AA has always been too blurry for me. For some reason I prefer clarity and jaggies to blurriness.

And on top of that I have a 17inch moniter which is awsome considering i have more desktop space (though for some reason 640*480/800*600 looks more pixelated than 1204*768)

1028x768 @ Max possible settings on Saphire Radeon 9500 > 9700 softmod.........🙂 This card is so fast that my monitor's refresh rates are limiting me.

I have a similiar hardware configuration.

I have the same A7N8X and two sticks of Kingmax 256 DDR PC 2700. What speed are you running your MB? After I unlocked my 1900 (1.7 GHz at stock voltage) and bumping my DDR voltage up a .1 volt to 2.7 volts I have been running stable 200 FSB for weeks with neary a lockdown. I have run this board at 211 FSB with my memory running at 83% of 211 FSB. My kingmax would not do anything higher than 200 FSB. My memory setting are 2.5, 3,3, 7. Any looser and my memory would have the "trots"...

Answer to your question.

12X10X32 in most games. 10X7X32 in graphically intense games. MY Vid card is a GF3 ti 500 (260 core, 590 memory).

Its in the "shop" right now b/c I got too many memory errors....I think I got both bad mobo and bad ram

Actually, thank god you said this. I was worried the mobo was ram picky and i should've gotten a more expensive one.

I haven't Oc'ed YET so you can tell I am eager too (prolly on a 3 day weekend or something)

btw, is your ram red or green? When I RMA'd my ram, it was green and they sent me red

Btw, that seems great that you got your ram up to 200mhz since I saw a review where it was barely pushing 179 at aggressive timings

1600 x 1200 or 1792 x 1344 combined with 16x fast anisotropic filtering. Looks great and runs awesome on the 9700 Pro.

play Counter-Strike in 640*480 OpenGL because the models are bigger thus easier to hit.
3D objects are always the same size, regardless of the resolution the game is running at.

I like my game resolutions to be the same as my desktop resolution. This way I can minimize my games and go do things in Windows without any problems or waiting. Turning on FSAA is nice if it doesn't kill performance too badly. I am going to try it in CS soon. It's an old game and my aging Radeon 8500 may be able to actually use FSAA with it.

no, everything in the game is bigger in 640*480 mode...and you see less screen

I'm going to try that next time....I wonder then if you will miss since the stuff gets smaller in higher resoultions

i recently (since cs 1.6 😀) started running 2048x1536...i didnt even know my monitor supported that res :Q

Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 91TXM (21" Trinitron)

1024x768 (x32) . . . mostly. My destop is at the next 'notch-up' (1600x1200 is possible but I have to drop to 75Hz for my monitor's refresh rate - and the desktop is too tiny.).

I have tried higher resolutions but my Radeon 8500 128MB Retail (300/300) won't work as well with AF enabled with the newest games - 1024x768 with some AF and/or AA is my best compromise. I am not dissatisfied - it works for me and is a significant improvement over my old Radeon 64 VIVO.

IF I had a faster card (and system - I am only at 1.5Ghz), I would run at the HIGHEST resolution I could get away with. 😉

CS and Q2, I run at 1600x1200x32..

WC3, I run at 1280x960x32 (Not sure if it's 1280x1024.. dont remember)

AoM, I run at 1024x768x32 usually.. When theres hundreds of units on the screen, it tends to slow down alot.. 🙁

I generally try to game at 1600x1200x32 (no AA, no aniso) wherever possible, because the native res on my LCD is 1600x1200. With some games the framerate isn't quite adequate for me, so I'll have to run 1280x960 (or 1280x1024 if 960 isn't available) or in the case of some very recently released games (like Rallisport Challenge), 1024x768.

I'm on a P4-1.6@2.4 with a Ti4200 64MB. If I had a beefier video card I'd be running everything at native res with whatever visual quality goodies I could get away with.

I generally play in 1024x768, or 1280x960 with my XP1800+ and GF4 Ti4200 128mb

However, seeing as my motherboard is half dead, I can't use the AGP card, so i'm running a V3 2000 PCI, in 640x480, with the stock WinXP drivers (which = crap)

Confused
