What resolution should I design my webpage for?

I'm in the process of archiving all of my PCT photos and putting them up on my website. I'm going through a bit of a redesign while I'm at it, scrapping everything I used to have and putting up a new page. What resolution should I design for? 800x600, while common, seems to be pretty limiting with a lot of photography, so I'm considering 1024x768. Any advice?

1024x768, as it's for images...if it was a typical web page, I would say 800x600, but 1024x768 for optimal viewing. Just try not to make it unusable for 800x600 users.. :)

1024 is a great resolution if your audience is all compy kiddies, however, many 'normal' people like using resolution @ 800x600. i run mine at 1600x1200 :)

it depends on who the target audience is... remember most prebuilt PCs that your grandma is going to buy will come with a default resolution of 800x600... so if your audience is to them, then i would say 800x600... if it is anyone else, or younger people, i would say 1024.... me, im a 1600 guy :)

FWIW, usage stats for the site in my sig have consistently been 45-50% 800x600 and about 37% 1024x768.
