what resolution is shown in movie theaters?

There is a comparable resolution to film, but I think it's like 6-8000 horizontal lines. Google should have an answer depending on the film size used for the movie.

Not usually, for actual prints that the theatres receive. The problem is the print is a copy of a copy, etc.

Sometimes 2k video used in digital theatres is actually superior.

Note that 2k video isn't actually much higher rez than 1080p in homes, but they use less compression and higher colour depth in digital theatres apparently.
