Anything below 85Hz and I can see the flicker, so anytime I buy a monitor I have to make sure that the intended resolution will run at least that high a refresh. (Maybe 80Hz would work, but it's rare to find a monitor and/or video card that actually does refresh rates other than 60, 75, 85 and 100 and above. Anybody know why? Does it have something to do with multiples or factors of the RAMDAC speed or something?)
I'm a lead in my department at work, so occasionally I walk around to make sure everybody's working and doesn't need any help with anything, and some of them are running 1280x1024@60Hz on 17" monitors, and I get a headache just seeing it from 10 feet away while I look at something else. Then I go and look up close and even leaning with my face near the monitor I can just barely make out the text that they're viewing. I honestly don't understand why they'd do that to themselves, it HAS to be bad for their vision. Even somebody with 20/20 vision should not be viewing something like that.
From Viper22's DNET stats:
<< The odds are 1 in a zillion-trillion that this participant will find the key before anyone else does. >>
That despite having a keyrate nearly twice my own, and I've got a 1 in 45K chance. Just made me laugh.
