What resolution can I get out of a 1080i/720p widescreen plasma when hooked up to a PC?

I have the exact same TV and all you need is the latest Nvidia driver and then use it to adjust for overscan. Anything from an Nvidia 6200 and up will work fine.

The overscan adjustment is in the display properties section and you just need to adjust a couple of sliders to get the picture to fit. Afterwards you should have a resolution of about 1256x704 (perhaps 1237x696) and that will fit the desktop perfectly. No need for powerstrip etc.

Text, graphics, DVD /HD etc all look great.

Edit: You'll need a DVI-HDMI cable. Also, the TV will not accept any non-HD resolution -- you have to output 480p/720p/1080i/1080p etc. If you try to output 1366x768 you'll get a blank screen since it isn't supported. And you obviously want to give it a resolution as close to native as possible (i.e. 720p = 1280x720 or 1256x704 adjusted).

the native resolution of the panel whatever it is. probably 1920x1080. if it downscales, look up the resolution of the panel and look for a custom resolution option in the graphic driver.
