85. Anything less tends to get uncomfortable. Fortunately, my Viewsonic P95f manages 1600x1200 resolution at 85Hz. 🙂

Depends entirely on the monitor. With some monitors 60 Hz is perfect, while other monitors display 60 Hz like crap. My current monitor is at 85 Hz since anything below 85 Hz has huge black bars on the sides that I cannot fully adjust out. But at 85 Hz and above the display is the best of any monitor I've ever seen (Cornerstone p1600). So I use 85 Hz.

85Hz. That's the highest I can get at 1152x865 on my Samsung 955DF. 1152x864 is the highest resolution my monitor displays clearly at.

I want more, I'll get a new monitor soon.

I would suggest you try vitural desktops, or viewports that can solve your problem of loosing desktop room.

hmmm. I have the same monitor, and I thought that it was 1024 x 768 that it displayed at 85hz.

The highest my monitor supports at a given resolution. It's a 19", currently set for 1280x1024 @ 90 Hz. (I accidentally cli8cked 85 Hz in the poll though.) Yeah, my monitor is an oldster; I'm sure current standards are higher, but 90 Hz seems fine. 75 Hz is a little low for me, and 60 Hz "Hz" my eyes. 100 Hz is extra nice, but it's only available when I'm using lower resolutions.

My next monitor will be an LCD, but I don't want to drop the dough yet.
