What reciever?

I'm getting Klipsch 500 HD speakers, 5.1...

What receiver do I get? Do I have to match up ohms or something???

That thread's table of contents says it has a section on receiver recommendations, but it's not there anymore as far as I can tell. Neither is the entire section 3. Furthermore, it says in bold red type at the top of the post that it's best to make an individual post asking for advice rather than purely referring to the sticky since it hasn't been updated as frequently as is needed.

This is a big question. We need to know what you are doing with it and what types of inputs do you have and outputs needed.

I for one (being cheap) would scour the Best Buy Magnolia stores for something like a Denon x310CI receiver. They have analog to HDMI upconversion which allows for all sources to run to the TV through a single input. note that upconversion of all sources does not necessarily go to 1080.

If you go Onkyo, you should do some research to see if the model you pick has heat issues. They all work fine for the most part, but some of their receivers get really hot and you might run into trouble if you put it in a closed media center cabinet with poor air circulation.

Agreed with the heat issues, i dont have that issue with my house as i dont have a closed cabinet or poor ciruculation thank god 🙂

i have a nice lilttle yamaha right now that does everything I need to do
