When the wrestler I "know" first entered the WWF he was a lanky wimpy featherweight too. Amazing what steroids can do over the course of a couple of years.

It would hurt Vince MUCH more if it were announced everywhere that Austin/Rock took drugs and that he still kept them on the roster, than it would if they kept on doing what they did.

Vince would not take a chance that, and most guys know this.

What's his name exactly, if I may ask?

Silly of me to think there is money involved in the drug business.

Vince would not take a chance at having a big trial over drug use. '94 basically killed them in the public's eye, and he would not do the same again.

And..furthering the subject of Rock/Austin, Shawn Michaels, who was going to do a big angle was also released of possible drug use, causing them to change the whole UT/Triple H stuff at WM, and the angle that would have further ensued.

You mean there's money involved by paying for drugs? That's..interesting.

<< GoldenBear,

I agree, man. You don't see people denigrating The Simpson's or The Three Stooges this way. I mean, the WWF is at least as funny as they are.

No, genius, that's capitalism. You sell for a profit. Sheesh, man, Economics 101.

My problem with it is that they call it sports and try to pass it off as real. Plus all of the bad acting just sucks. :)

It's just like all my children, a sh!tty soap opera. You can't call it sports unless there's competition, and when you know the winner before it starts then it's just a waste of time.

Why in the world would they sell drugs? They do not produce it, and Vince is not a near billionaire because he sells drugs.

<< My problem with it is that they call it sports and try to pass it off as real. >>

Look, when you have a guy named, "The Rock", and "Hulk Hogan", you'd have to be the world's most ignorant person to believe that ANY of it is not scripted.

And no one with half a brain would call it a sport, as:

*In a real sport, if an injury takes place, such as a concussion, broken bone, etc., or even worse, the play would be stopped, and the guy would be taken off the field/court and taken to the hospital. In the WWF guys have nearly broken their necks after being dropped on their heads, suffered concussions, and dislocated their shoulders only to continue on.

*Most "real" athlets have some sort of scheduled off-season in their work, while pro wrestlers often work 300+ days a year, with maybe 4-5 days a month off.

*"Real" athletes have player unions, many have guarenteed contracts for injury, and a workers comp deal. There's probably about a handful of guys with ANY of those things.

*"Real" athletes don't perform when hurt. On any given night, 1 or 2 out of every 5 guys are working with some sort of injury.

<< Plus all of the bad acting just sucks. :) >>

They're not hired for their acting.

<< You can't call it sports unless there's competition, and when you know the winner before it starts then it's just a waste of time. >>

Are you now saying that Jackie Chan/Jet Li/etc., fight scenes are a waste of time? Believe it or not all those are scripted as well (!)

<< Vince is not a near billionaire because he sells drugs. >>

No, he's a near billionaire because he sells a product that benefits when the participants use those drugs.

His product was almost flushed down the toilet because of the possibility that he DID do all that.

McMahon, more than anything else, is a good businessman. Even then, it doesn't take a genius NOT to let history repeat itself.

You can't tell me guys like Triple H aren't using steroids. And steroids are only illegal if you don't have a prescription---I wonder how many doctors Vince has working for the WWF that can write legal prescriptions for steroids all day long.

<< I respect a wrestler's athletic ability because what they do is tremendously demanding. I just can't stand all the soap opera crap that goes along with it. >>

i feel the same way... i used to watch it before i became a teen, back when it was focused on the wrestling... if they would cut out all the storylines and had nothing but action, i would watch it again...

BTW anyone checked out WOW (women of wrestling) ? i have to admit it's a lot better than the male version, and not just for the obvious reason... there's a lot of highflyin stuff goin on and most of the chix aren't shemales *cough*CHYNA*cough*...

You're really out of touch with wrestling if you really think WOW is better.

I'm going to chime in before I go home. :)

I think Goldenbear's point is that, when an actor or football star is having surgery, the general populace has a lot of compassion.

When it's a pro wrestler, who has something in common with both of the above, people are complete jackasses about it.

Regardless of whether or not you like wrestling, the guy is a human. He works hard and deserves a little respect.

If you don't like wrestling, shut up. You're not going to convince anyone that it sucks by chiming in with your waste of bandwidth.

Actually the wrestlers are cool, it's the pencil necked geek fans that are a joke.

This is hilarious ... I don't like pro "wrestling". I already stated that above, but it's funny to see different points of view. I *used* to like it a little, before I found out it was -gasp- fake, and back before the terrible acting came in. You guys like it, then watch it.

Did you stop watching TV altogether, because just about all of it is "fake", and you'll find bad acting in it in one form or another?

But you so totally missed my point. I DO NOT CARE at ALL, whether anyone watches it, AT ALL.

Have I made THAT clear yet?
