What RAR/ZIP program uses .001, .002, etc. for multi part archives?

Open the .001 file with notepad and see what it says the file type is. Doesn't always work but if it's compressed it should say it in ascii on the first line of the file.

It says it's an AVI, DIVX format.

Take the HJSplit rebuilt file, run it through GSpot to make sure it's actually in one piece, then try opening it with VLC.

May seem like a stupid question but do you have the divx codec installed? It doesn't come default with windows.

REN finalname.avi "finalname.avi"

Wow. Thank you for repeating what I posted 3 posts above yours.

try the XVID codec

GSPOT is codec independant, it simply ID's what format a particular file is & what codecs would be required.

GSPOT reports that it is not a valid AVI.

Winrar WILL open it if you have all of the pieces. You just need to find the first piece (I think its called something different, not just .001 or something)

Hah, I saw you made a reply and before I even opened the thread, I figured you'd be b!tching about this not being in the software forum

WinAce or PowerArchiver should open those, in fact, they might be ace files. Try WinAce first. Both are free trial downloads. I use WinAce for everything, mostly; occasionally there's an obscure archive that WinAce doesn't work on and I use PowerArchiver.

Oh yeah, that's pretty interesting. I haven't seen many French hackers, it's mainly Germans uploading their scat films.

WINRAR, Unless the frenchie pirates use something else the entire world doesn't use.
force winrar to open it, or use the command line winrar "rar32 x -y -v <filename>.001".....

most likely someone scanned your ftp, found it unsecured and used it as a dump.

its definitely a RAR series. i use winace to open the first file (001) and it should list the contents of the entire volume.
