What quotes do you live by?

There are too many to state here. Most don't live in my conscious mind all the time, in fact none do but they come to me at times, appropriate times. I am a magnet for aphorisms. I have hundreds saved in my data. Many just come to mind whenever.

plural noun: aphorisms
  1. a pithy observation that contains a general truth, such as, “if it ain't broke, don't fix it.”.
My personal self-developed aphorism for that example is:

If I cain't fix it it ain't broke.

I actually wrote a function I can use that spits out a random saved text worthy of note (because I deemed it so sometime in the past). Here's a random sample:

Two of my own that I tell other people are to "always do the right thing, even when no one is looking" and "no matter where I go, I'll always be there" although I may have heard similar things in my past.

As far as my work and my hobbies, I like "if a man does his best, what else is there?".

Part of why I'm non-religious. You should not only be free to pursue answers, but to genuinely have no answer (as opposed to a "God did it" catch-all). And you don't reject an answer just because you don't like it.

in a minute there is time
for decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse.

i have seen the moment of my greatness flicker,
and i have seen the eternal footman hold my coat, and snicker,
and in short, i was afraid.

these 2 quotes describe my life more accurately than any others i know.

i'll probably get the second one etched on my gravestone.
