One I grabbed from a poster in these forums the other day:

No, I checked it out of the library but didn't get past a page or two (about a year ago, never saw it before that). However, I like that quotation.

I have read all the books multiple times. hell bought the collection multiple times, they keep not coming back :colbert:

I like this one from Japanese:

ちりも積もれば山となる。
chiri mo tsumoreba yama to naru
If you pile up dust it becomes a mountain.

Eg like a lot small steps can make something grand.

The Hunter S. Thompson utterance I have never forgotten was at the very end of one of his most famous books, Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail:

"Persistence and determination alone are invincible."

I still have individual copies, got the omnibus some time back because they're battered (and it had the Zaphod Plays It Safe story), and then a few years ago my daughter and her BF got me the "Ultimate" edition with the gilt pages.

Democracy does not work becasue the majority rules. It works only when the minority agrees to be ruled.

I don't take no stock in dead people. - Huckleberry Finn
As William Blake put it,

"Drive your cart and plow over the bones of the dead."

On the same theme, he said,

"The cut worm forgives the plow."

"embrace the suck"

"be observant"

The root cause of most incidents and bad decisions is the act of not paying attention to the world around you.

It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it...

At least until you end up on an episode of Hoarders....
