Hey guys, I am new to this overclocking thing and just wanted to know what programs is recommended (and where to get them) for stability, temperatures, benchmarks, etc.
Thanks and I hope this thread helps others as well!
I start with:
WCPUID, System Information, and Sisoft just to make sure everything adds up
I then try to run these programs in this sequence:
Final Reality
PCMARK 2002
3DMARK 2000
3DMARK 2001
3DMARK 2001SE
If I am not worried about the temperature...:
Prime95
CPU BURN (BURNP6)
the last two are really overkill, and I don't recommend unless you have no fear.
Usually 3D tests in Final Reality will snag your system (even if the 3DMARKS don't)
just type in the program name in Google or Yahoo. They are all free.
1) MBM monitor or Asus Probe if you have asus mobo - temperature monitoring programs
2) Basic benchmarks: Sisoftware Sandra, PC Mark 2002 (Madonion)
3) Video Benchmarks: 3DMark2000(you don't really need this unless you video card is old, Madonion), 3DMark2001 SE(Madonion), maybe Quake3 if you have a copy with QBench
4) Final Stability test: Prime95 - you can run this to X hours to your satisfaction 🙂, this program is also good to find out what you max load temperature will be... 🙂. You can also run 3DMark2001 SE in loop test to find out about your system's gaming stability, of course to your desire X hours again.
Memory - SiSoft Sandra Standard version . Run Memory Bandwidth Benchmark 10 times in a row by using Burn-In Wizard. If you make 5 in a row your memory is probably fine for normal use. 10 times in a row is probably stable.
Cpu - Buy Starcraft and play 🙂 (Read my thread here.)
Thought I had went through all of Sandra's modules...
Anyway Sandra has a module called Burn-In Wizard that'll automatically run the bandwidth test as many times as you want. And I had been using that dang refresh button 🙂.
