What program do you use to make............

I am working on my web page. I want to know what you people use to make things like maybe the Anandtech logo up above here, with the red slash in it. I want to be able to create logos fancy rainbow colored page headings, etc. I am using Ulead now. I guess freeware would be nice but I would be willing to buy something that worked well and was easy to use. Thanks!

Macromedia's Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator

I use dreamweaver, I am actually taking a course in using dreamweaver right now. They said that you can not make that kind of stuff in dreamweaver though?

If you're using Ulead's Photo Impact, that is a good program and you can do lots of things with it like what you want. Better, and the industry standard, is Photoshop. I use Corel's Photo-Paint for most of my work. It's almost identical to Photoshop and I like it better.

You might consider using Photoshop because it's almost freeware 😉

I have photoshop 6.0 but I need to learn how to use it. It is a little difficult and complex for me. I suppose it would pay to take a class to be able to use it.

BTW, do not be confused. You cannot do what you are talking about in Dreamweaver; you need to be using a graphics/photo program such as Photoshop, Photo-Paint, Paint Shop Pro, Photo Impact, etc.

You don't need a class unless that's what you really want to do and is the best way to learn. There are lots of Photoshop tutorials on the Internet to learn from.

You can start by looking here: Tut's
and just use a search engine to find more tutorials.

i suggest getting a book on photoshop if you want to learn it... the best way really is just tinkering tinkering.... The more you use it, the more you learn and the better you get.

I belive that image is done in Macromedia Fireworks, the best imaging program for web graphics.

download a trial and try it out.

I own Fireworks, but I havent had time to learn to use it yet. I will check it out tonight.
