Hey guys. I've used windows media player to rip music from cd's that i own. The results are not always the best and the music is many times compromised. How can I rip music from a Cd at 320kbps? WMP can only rip up to 128kbps

CDex will do the trick. I find it hard to believe that you'll hear much of a difference above 192kbps though. I encode at 192kbps with VBR and I really can't tell the difference from the mp3 and the original CD.

CDex v1.70b2 and LAME 3.97 for me. I've been using CDex for a long time, it's great software.

Use WMA lossless and it'll sound exactly the same as the original.

LAME can encode MP3s at up to 320kbps (maybe even higher but then you have compatibility problems with some devices), like mentioned.

For best quality, however, you really want to use lossless formats (as opposed to MP3s which are a lossy format).

WMA lossless, FLAC and AAC lossless all provide near flawless sound at around 50-60% of the size of a WAV.

Glad to hear you found some software that you like, but the above statement is incorrect.
WMP10 can rip to .mp3 at up to 320KB/s which is what I use. It's free and works well. I used to use EAC + LAME, but that's two more pieces of software to load.
