What processor?

Does the 800 0r 850 slot one stepping get good results on the Asus P3V4X? If not would it be better to go with the 866 or 933. I'm getting rid of an old 700e non cbo and thinking of one of these processors.. I am also looking at a 700e cbo but first wanted to know how good the others were too.

If you plan on overcloclocking, They will all hit about the same speed, but the advantage of the new 700 is that it's cheaper and you can get your fsb up to 150 Mhz, which will also give you a system boost. Yes you can get the 933 up to a 150 FSB but are willing to spend that much more on something that will do the same thing as a much cheaper CPU. With using just air cooling you most likely will not be able to get to a 150 Mhz FSB with the 800 and 850. So if it was me I would go with the 700. But it's all how you want to spend you money, and I am sure that someone else here will have a different opinion.

If your a gammer, I would first get rid of your Viper II, and get a new video card before i would worry about upgrading my processor. GeForce1 DDR boards are going for cheap (used).

Hopefully the plan is to sell this processor to someone who wants it. I can get close to the asking price for a new one (OEM) from the person I am selling it to.(Canadian Dollars) Then I wll buy new one online from a clearnace place. I only expect to put out a few dollars difference for it. The Video card is coming for My birthday at the end of the month:^) Or At least I am slowly selling the Idea to my wife right now on my birhtday present. Really I was wondering if I should get the higher processor (800 to 866?)or get a cbo stepping 700e ( I have a ca2 700e)

Fingers answered your question. If you don't plan to overclock, get the 8xx. Pretty simple really.

Thank you for your input.. I have decided on the 700e cb0 which i found for $190.00 and I have a buyer for my old one for the same price.. Could'nt go wrong there I guess.
