what problems will i run into installing MANDRAKE with these components!

iwill kk266 w/ tbird 1.4ghz
geforce2 mx
aureal sq2500
creative dxr3
full hardware modem
2 - ibm 30gb drives
1 - nec 8x dvd-rom
1 - sony 8x4x32x cd-rewriter

should i have my PCI devices mounted suring installation, or should i install them one-by-one afterwards? also, are there any drivers/rpms that i should have readily available during installation?

I installed with everything in. Make sure to go into the BIOS and select non plug and play OS.

The drivers for your sound card will not be installed. The installation program will refer you to some site (I think it is linux.aureal.com, but don't bother with it as those drivers are horrible if the site is even still up)

You can get much better drivers at http://sourceforge.net/projects/aureal. Read the forums there before you try installing them. Many people have had trouble installing with mandrake 8. I think it was becase the kernal source is not installed by default in mandrake 8. (Its been a while since I was there). It installed perfectly on my mandrake 8 system, but I specifically made sure that the source was installed.

yeah you have to install the kernel source to get the drivers to work with Mandrake 8.

I have it running, though KDE doesn't like to play any audio for some reason.. I've played audio in GNOME and other GUIs, but not KDE..
