Well, I am curretly thinkin either an epson or HP. Needs photo qualitity and hold both inks. What is the best yet most cost effective?

uh...my Z52 is a Lexmark....my aunt ended up with an Epson 820...ooo...Photos....I gave my mom a Lexmark 43...good all around...I mostly use my cheapo Epson 480SXU(..lol...$9 from Staples a while back...black ink ...$3 ) but also like my HP PSC750 nice allpurpose...have not tried any photos tho

Epson 785EPX. Just make sure you don't turn the printer off thru a powerstrip, and don't leave it on for extended periods of time with no activity, and make sure you use it once a week. It makes fantastic photos, and the color ink tanks are $13.89 for color and $17 for black from buy.com. A few drawbacks. 1. epson has built-in printheads and over a period of time the nozzles can clog. some ppl have remedied this by using amonia or amonia based solutions to clean the nozzles of the dried inks. 2. there are these tiny metal rollers with teeth that feed the paper thru the printer and can leave a line on the prints. unless you look for them you'll never see them.

here is a couple review of the printer

John: they only clog over long periods of time or if you do not follow epsons instructions. One other anandtech'r was in one of these discussion complaining about how his heads were clogging. Come to find out he was turning off the printer thru a powerstrip. Epson is very explicit in their directions, and they online FAQ to NOT turn this printer off except thru the power button. Also, you can clean the the nozzles with amonia..it will dissolve the dried inks 🙂
