~~~What Printer do you think is best for Digicam Printing???~~~
EXman
Lifer
I have a Lexmark Z52 I like it for text and web stuff but for RL pics from the digicam it is too Dark. Just bought $50 worth of Photo Ink too.
epson is usualy the best brand for photoprinting, all of my teachers recomend epson (I'm in a multimedia school)
the problem is that they are loud when printing, very loud
epson 785epx, the whole stylus photo range uses 6 colors of ink rather than 3 like most other printers.
I have the Z51 and I love the photos it prints out. I wonder if there are any settings you can tweak to help.
Bunker yours and mine are very similar I am Using the winXP drivers/utilities instead of the Lexmark's utilities.
just spent $50 on the Laexmark photo package too... thought that would make a difference
I have the HP 990Cse and bought it with digital photo printing in mind. Paid $600Cdn about 2 years ago. It makes very beautiful prints on 106+% bright paper than it does on glossy paper. On gloss paper, it looks washed out, but given my camera back then was only a lowly 1.1Megapixel Kodak DC215. Still, that camera has served me well for trips and special occasions.
Plucky
AHHH ok then anyone know of one that is currently for sale? I like the Lex Z65 but it got bad ratings so I am gonna stay away.
btw Lexmark is in my town so I like to give them my business
EX...I'm on win2k and am using the drivers from lexmark....maybe that has something to do with it because there are a lot of settings in the lexmark drivers.
I would avoid Epson. I've had two of their printers and I've had nothing but trouble - although not until just after the warranty expires. Lots of clogging and printing problems. Photos look great when it works though. I would never buy an Epson.
I don't know what kind of software you are printing from, but there should be some settings to allow you to match what you see on the screen to your printer's output. What OS are you using? What software are you printing from? Are you using the latest drivers?
I had a problem with dark poor quality output from my Epson Photo 870 (which as I mentioned above, requires repair just 3 months out of warranty - don't buy Epson inkjets!) after upgrading to XP. Windows XP had installed a Microsoft driver. After installing the Epson driver the problem was gone. Go to Lexmark's site and see if you have the latest drivers: Version: 1.0.4.0 Date: 04/05/2002
over the last few years, been using HP 712, 845, 932, 960 with an now older Nikkon 2.1 meg...ink prices are a bummber...no complaints using the HP Prem Gloss, wonderful quality (think I actually like the 932 better than the 960 but I think they are suppose to be the same engine)...for double sided gloss go with the Kodak version...
Epson 820 or 785EX or a higher end HP or Canon.
Staples and OfficeMax both have VERY NICE coupons out there right now $50 off $200 and $50 off $250 respectively.
hmmm....
Guess I'd better go shop around. I had a low end HP and it was junk but I have not tried a top of the line one yet.
I hate shopping localy for computer stuff have to fend off all the morons who work there. present AT company not accounted for. 😛
As far as I know Epson is the only printer line that does NOT have removable print heads!
That means, when they clog, and they will sooner or later, it will be tough to clean them with the recomended ammonia and water solution.
All the others, the print head is on the cartridge, so if it clogs and you can't clean, it just throw it out!
I was at the Apple Store at Lenox Mall the other day, and they had a portfolio of images printed by top-of-the-line printers from Canon, Epson, and HP. The HP printed the most accurate image in terms of color, IMO. The Canon printed the least grainy image, but was on the dark side. The Epson printed the worst image. I'd look at more examples before making my final decision, but those few that I saw give me a good idea.
