So I bought a guitar and I want to learn how to play some popular songs... namely, rock, country, and that soft crap that girls like to listen to (aka collide by howie day which I learned for my GF).

What songs can I get tabs for that shouldn't be crazy difficult to play on guitar? I tried amazed by lonestar, but the tabs show a key change like 3 times so that is tough.... broken road by rascall flatts doesn't sound right with the tabs from ultimateguitar.com...

so please help! mainly those soft mushy songs so i can hopfully get some action from the gf after wooing her with my new guitar skills, but any song will do (country or rock for my personal tastes)

thanks!!

As far as songs go, I doubt I could help much; most of the music I listen to falls under the category of "classic rock".

I've been told Green Day songs are usually pretty easy to learn.

Yeah, most Green Day songs are pretty easy, and actually fun to play for a beginner. There's also always "Horse With No Name" by America... 2 chords.

If all you want is a chick, it doesn't really matter what you play, but if you actually had it in your mind to start improving, pick up something that ISN'T easy and work your way through it.

power chords are easy but boring. they allow you to play most mainstream rock.

i like fingerpicking.. {

kansas - dust in the wind;
evanescence - so close;
alice in chains - down in a hole, don't follow;
seether - broken;
}

alternatively, know these chords: G, D, Am, A, Em, E, C, and you can play a ton of shit. both definitions of 'shit' apply.

oh, just thought of one, good riddance by green day. it's G - C9 - D, and then the other part you'll have to look up.

Tabs only show you one part of the song. Tempo is everything. Many songs don't sound right until you play them with the right tempo.

Power chords are your friend in this case. Look for songs from:

GUNS N ROSES
NIRVANA
LED ZEPPELIN
BEATLES
AC DC
BLINK 182
IRON MAIDEN
ROLLING STONES
QUEEN
RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS
DEEP PURPLE
BLACK SABBATH
SEPULTURA
CLAPTON ERIC
SCORPIONS
METALLICA
INCUBUS
EAGLES
MARLEY BOB
MEGADETH
AC/DC
and THE GUESS WHO

These groups all have popular songs that can be played with combinations of 3 powerchrods.
