what plays "avi"?

what plays avi format videos...
cuz i got a movie from a friend and its in avi format and my real player wont run it....so can somebody help?

Windows Media Player should play it, provided it's a standard .avi. It could very well be encoded using a different codec, though, if RealPlayer won't run it. Try asking your friend, or do a search at Google for "DivX ;-)" (yes, include the smiley face).

if the avi is divx format, you will need something called a divx codec. you should be able to find it by doing a search at google for divx like lint said. the codec will most likely be in a zip file with instructions on how to install it. i would recommend a player called "global divx" which you can also find by searching on google. hope this helps.
