My motherboard has 2 IEEE 1394 ports.. (aka firewire) and I'm sad that I can't find a use for those two. 😉

What peropherials can i look for for the firewire?
 
firewire is high bandwidth..
you can get additional hard drives.. you can hook up firewire enabled video cameras for editing... you can find some firewire webcams.. but I dont understand the logic behind that.

Basically firewire provides 400mbps of bandwith.. USB only has 12mbps. Give it time and more stuff will show up soon enough.

 
I'm petty sure you can get Firewire CD-RWs too. What don't you understand 'bout firewire webcams? By using Firewire instead of USB you can get a better looking image.

Just a caution - if you're going to be doing video editing, at least one manufacturer (Matrox) suggests that you do not use firewire hard drives, as they do not offer the sustained data transfer rate necessary for video editing. I know that theoretically the drives should be fast enough, but according to Matrox, they don't do the job.
