I'm pretty used to being here, so almost nothing would get me to move. I know where everything is. If I were inclined to move, I'd take a pretty drastic cut to move to New England.

Really depends on where and if it's a place I'd prefer to live or not but really I don't think any amount would convince me. Family and friends comes before money, and moving out of province would mean being too far to make visits realistic. Heck, even within my province, if I was offered a job in the GTA or something, FTS, no amount would be enough for me to want to go live there. But a really good paying job up north like in Moosonee or something where it would not be too bad to live in, I would MAYBE consider it, but even then it would be kinda far from family. Though if they have charter flights that are cheap then I would consider it. Lot of those places are fly in too, like 2 weeks in 2 weeks out, I would consider something like that if it paid really good. I know someone who mapped out all the fibre optics and microwave sites up north and literally walked it all with a GPS. Would be an interesting project to do for a couple years and then go back to a normal office job after.

I took a 26.3% increase in salary earlier this year to stay at my current company. It was a wise move on my part. I love it!

My biggest factor would be less crowded. If I could make the same amount and the city is way less crowded I would take it in an instant.

Percentage doesn't mean much without knowing a base salary or where you live. Those variables alone just make up a big difference. I'd love to move to a place it's warm year round out in San Diego or down in the Keys but in San Diego the jobs don't pay as well as they do around here but the cost of living is like double, and I'm not looking to be house poor. In the Keys there simply isn't any jobs in my field. But if I could make my current salary or even less to be a boat operator or something, I'd do it in a heartbeat lol. But that's just not realistic, I'd probably have to take over a $100k pay cut to do something like that.

It depends on the cost of living of the new place. If is is NYC or CA,coastal then a lot more money than other places such as NC or KS.

I read that $100K in NYC is about $50K around here (Southern US).

NYC is pretty diverse.
Cost of living depends on neighborhood and the fact that a car can be optional helps a lot.

to take a new job in another state.

Assuming you are okay with where you live now but you like where the new job is located.

Depends on where you're going, no? If I lived in San Francisco, and I could take my $200K a year developer salary and work in Idaho instead, that sounds like a pretty sweet deal. I could live like a king there for $200K a year.

Yeah but then you'd have to eat potatoes all the time.

Cost of living at two locations I’m looking at is similar. It may be slightly lower at the destination according to internet calculators but I’m skeptical.

My situation - it would have to be near double my salary before I even consider it. Too many roots here in NY like most people. The only other place I'd want to be is in the NoVA area, but my wife and kids would be uprooted from a lot. I just changed jobs after 18 years (still work from home) and got a 38% raise (I was underpaid). So now that I'm more satisfied, it would take a lot.

Getting to that job change though, it took at least 30% to get me to leave the prior company which I was comfortable with, but again, no location change. This job however, I have no idea how long they'll keep us for. The salary hike was worth the risk.

GF and I both have good, relatively stress free and interesting engineering jobs in an area we love. We'd probably get a pay cut (along with COL cut) to move anywhere but San Francisco, which we have no interest in.

I probably wouldn't move or change careers for any realistic amount of money because chances are I'd have to work way harder for it and it's also a good bet the work would be less fun. My dad makes 5-6 times what I make and in no situation would I take his job.
