Alright, so I've been leaving these peppers out on the plant for quite awhile now and they don't seem to be ripening any farther. I'm thinking these are either my Poblano or Mulato peppers but I can't tell, anyone know which these are?

UPDATE
I actually contacted the company that sold me the seeds, they claim they are the poblano peppers. Which all in all is a possibility still, I got to say the color is abit darker in person, the camera flash from my phone made them look lighter.

So right now, I'm leaning toward poblano just because that is what they are supposed to be and all my other peppers grew as what they were supposed to be.

I mean if someone here was familiar with the leaves between anaheim and poblano it could clear it up a bit more.

Delicious peppers. Seriously, prepare and eat them. I would love to have some of those for my stir fry tonight.

My immediate take was a poblano or Anaheim, but I'm not familiar with the leaves on either one. It looks a bit lighter than most poblano peppers I've seen.

COULD be a variety of peppers, but that looks like the Anaheims I have growing in my garden. Do they have any heat? Anaheims have none.

I was thinking the same thing, looks a lot like a poblano but not a dark enough green. But, maybe the image is just a bit washed.

they look like cubanelles.

Too pointed on the end. I have a cubanelle in my garden. They look like these:

This, although wiki lists heat range between 500-2500SR. Really if you count the varieties cultivated in New Mexico they can be much hotter than that, but those aren't really referred to as Anaheims despite sharing the same lineage.

OP: My money is on Anaheim unless you lucked out and mysteriously got seeds for Hatch, Espanola, or Chimayo, chiles. The Chimayo chile in particular is the best all around balance of heat and flavor.

The Anaheims I have in my garden aren't any hotter than the green bell peppers I have. As they mature and turn cherry red...the skin gets leathery. We have to fire-roast them to "crack" the skin and use them in cooking. When they're green, they're fine to eat, skin-on.

I LOVES me some "hatch chiles." OMG! flavorful...and some of those are HOT!

Do these look like any of your anaheims?

Yes they do. Poblano peppers tend to be a dark green, not light green. (although they could start light and darken as they mature)

poblano.jpg

Both peppers tend to be "pointed" rather than "blunt" on the end, so yours COULD just be immature poblanos, but poblanos tend to also be wider than the anaheims...and are considered to be "heart shaped."

Since most peppers are very closely related, it's usually nearly impossible to tell the variety by the leaves. (unless you're a pepper expert/biologist who specializes in Capsicum Annuum.)

Here's more info on the Poblano pepper:

as compared to the Anaheim:

Have you tasted one yet? The Poblano will have SOME heat to it...but not nuclear hot...nor even as hot as a jalapeno.

Just pulled one off to taste it, I'm thinking they are still unripe still. Tasted like a green bell peppers, which case these very well can be poblano peppers that need to ripen (and soon)

Unless you have "little girl" hands, those have NICE size.

Here's a couple of crappy pics of some of my peppers:

Anaheims:

(the earlier peppers were quite a bit bigger. These are about 5 inches long)

I actually did plant some, they didn't grow. Plant and flowers =( no fruit.

@Boomer
lol its the way i took the pic, was trying to keep my hand out of the way.

I think these are indeed poblano peppers that aren't ripe yet, your anaheim's are a really light green/yellow. Mine have stayed at that dark green and were never really a light green. So I think they need more time on the vine and they might get darker and shrink in size a little.
