What PDA should I get?

I got a free copy of "Laptop" magazine and it has a review of WiFi enabled PDAs which got me all excited to get one again.

They recommended the Palm Tungsten and, to a lesser degree, the Dell Axim with a SanDisk Wifi compact flash card.

Which one should I get?

Hard to beat a Dell Axim in price ... check the hot deals forum. Not to mention this is one tough bastard, taken many Wile E Coyotes spills jumps off side of my desk and keeps going.

Hi Mwilding-

Funny I was going to post this question just yesterday. WiFi is a must.

I am strongly leaning towards the Palm Tungsten C myself with the Toshiba e740 coming in a strong (and cheaper) second.

Screen on the Palm rules and love the built in keyboard. If price were no object, this or the iPAC 5450.

Toshiba can be found for close to 300 though. New e750 is huge and didnt like the screen so Palm is winning.

Have to look for that mag. How did you get it free? PM me if you like.

Continental has a not quite so well known free magazine rack in terminal C in Newark Airport. Not any good magazines, but this one was pretty good for that one article...

I went back and bought the one from Dell:

TrueMobile 1180 Wireless LAN CompactFlash Card for Dell Axim Handhelds

Final Price: $55.96

I know the CompUSA hot deal is cheaper, but I have bad luck with rebates and it is about to end. I doubt I would remember to mail it in in time to qualify...

WiFi capable PDA with 256MB extra memory for >$300 is still a hot deal

It'll be worth it, especially the first time you load up a divx clip on it, or stream one from your PC even :D.

I don't hardly use my Toshiba, I should pick up a wireless card if they're so cheap now. Maybe I'll find another use for it then. The battery life is horrid, I can't imagine it with a wifi card :p

FYI, if you want to listen to music wirelessly from your server then you'll need a program like Resco File Explorer so you can map a network drive to your PPC. For Calendar tracking, you may find the default app a bit lacking and I would recommend looking at either Pocket Informant or Agenda Today. However, there are freeware plugins that you can install to power up the default app. Check out This Thread at Brighthand for some really useful information

you have to think what to get first, a ppc or a palm?

I own a sony clie nx70v, really cool toy. watch movie, mp3, take pic/video and voice recording. you can go wireless with WiFi too, or get a bluetooth memory stick.
