In America, no. In a place like Italy, you'd be in a mental asylum. ;)

I wouldn't mind eating tomato... However, she's now married and changed her name to "Mrs Bugi", so it looks like she's off limits for a while.

Yes, I'm fully aware of that. I actually just bring a loaf of bread and some lunch meat for my mini-fridge at my desk on some weeks. But, normally, I go out anyways... both for variety and for the sake of getting out of the office for a while.

I hate tomatoes also but never have had an issue with them being included when I ask for it not to be.

OK. You get reading lessons and I'll be sure to try a different deli. Oh wait, I already did!

... I have gone to three different delis to order a sandwich...

admittedly I don't really read your threads anymore.

I can't stand raw tomatoes but several years ago I realized that they contribute a lot of mass to my sandwiches and burgers so now I get them and eat them anyway. I try to eat them quickly so I can't taste them. I figure I'm getting more food that way.

True that. You're lucky if they speak English...

Hah... Wawa never messes up my no-tomato order, and I order a BLT! I can see the confusion on their faces when they look for the tomato on the screen, but they almost always recognize that it isn't on my order and they leave it off.

In summary, Matt should get a job at Wawa.

So...if I understand this correctly...you hate tomatoes, but out of some bizarre need to get more mass of food for your dollar you willingly put them on your sandwiches since they don't cost extra?

If you want, I'll make you the biggest fucking sod sandwich you've ever seen and sell it to you for $2. I can't garentee the quality of the sod as my lawn is pretty dry in the summer, but I can put some gravel in it if you like from my driveway.

:p

My wife is allergic to tomatoes, so it is ridiculous that the delis can not follow instructions. however, i would either watch them make it and stop them as they add the tomato OR check it before leaving and have them remake the sandwich.

No you don't understand correctly if you think tomatoes are the same as sod. Thanks for the offer though. I just decided to be less picky to get more food for my money. I eat tomato products all of the time, just not raw tomatoes. Most good salads come with them as well and they're a large percentage of the salad. It's not like restaurants replace them with more carrots or something.

Meh, I add tomatoes in or on the side of a burrito as contrast: cool 'n' refreshing versus hot 'n' spicy.

I've got a friend who's like this with anything remotely healthy. As soon as he knows it's in there, he treats the whole meal like a plate of vomit. ZOMG TEH INFESTATION!

They're paid to do a job. Do it right or not at all. If they don't like it, they can fuck off.
