I know the new gigabyte board is the onl DDR400 so far, but I can't find a board that supports DDR333, maybe I'm looking in the right places. I haven't been paying attention to the market for about a month so I'm a bit behind. I just need a list of some boards. thanks...oh and ASAP cause I need a board within two days.

Thanks again

If you can wait until next week, ASUS will be releasing the new P4PE with the new i845PE chipset that officially supports PC2700 DDR 333 RAM. It looks like a really good board. The only thing missing is support for AGP 3.0 which really isn't needed anyway.

Dont know why people get hung up on "official" DDR333 support. There are many nice i845G boards you can buy right now that can run DDR333 (and much higher) just fine, but its not official. No magic trick either. Just enable it in the BIOS and away you go.

What do you enable? What are some good boards? Sorry for the newbie like questions...just have been away for a while. What about the Epox 4g4a+?

I have the gigabyte P4 Titian GA-8IGX motherbaord based of the intel 845g with a P4 2.4GhzB and 512mb ddr 333mhz. Even though my motherboard does not *official* support ddr 333mhz memory, the first time i booted it, it activated as 333mhz memory and has never crashed because of my memory and has performed like a champ. If you want a good ddr 333mhz P4 motherboard I would strongly reccomend getting this board or something else based on the i845g becuase they are simply amazing.

I also have the gigabyte P4 Titian GA-8IGX and like looney says there is no problem running ddr333/pc2700. I run a 1.6A at 2.2 Ghz no problem and no special cooling. No tricks. Just pure speed.

As an alternative, you may wish to investigate the VIAP4PB. I'm building a new system around one. Nice value and loaded.

Initially I would say 4G4A but since you want "official" then I would say one of the new SiS 648 boards. Take a look at Evan's reviews (I think he's done 4-5 648 mobo's).

Wait a few weeks, the new "granite bay" chipset will be coming out, and it officially supports DDR333.
I'm placing my bets on this chipset, particularly the Asus model.

I agree with Rick on this question.... Why not wait until this coming Monday when the i850PE boards are going to be released. These enhanced chipsets not only have official support for DDR333, they have an improved memory controller (as compared to the i850G), and as soon as Evan reviews one of them, I expect we will see the benefits of that improvement in the benches. In addition, the i845PE boards support Intel's new Hyper-Threading CPUs (soon to debut with the P4 3.06). In order to support these new processors, the i845PE boards have a beefed-up P/S. :p

Just my $.02

PS. While these new boards only support AGP 4x, I also agree with Rick that the lack of support for AGP 8x is not too significant.
