The one quality common among all great attorneys would be an attention to details.

Attention to details alone won't make one a great attorney but I doubt you could be a great attorney without it. All aspects of law require it.

I appreciate the responses so far. To narrow it a little bit, what makes a good family law attorney?

Super good knowledge of law and specifics about each law(obviously) so you can cite stuff at a whim but also knowing all the tiny little details, and being able to see details in every situations so you can apply them to you/your client's favour, details that can perhaps change a cut and dry case around that you'd otherwise lose.

I'd agree with this; especially in a family law setting. Knowing the endless amount of exceptions, as well as the exceptions to the exceptions, goes a long way to having the law work for you.

It helps to be the smartest guy in the room.

Also, LOL I have to chuckle at those who dis lawyers for being this and that, greedy, etc. LIke lawyers are a different species, worse even,
But all lawyers know, sure the hate comes out up until you need a lawyer, then there's an attitude change real quick.
