Neither side is responsible or accountable these days.

Quit bashing the parties. I dont think anybody in here said that Republicans are awesome or Democrats are perfect. No one is that stupid anymore.

Well said.

Why are we in the situation we are in? Because our grandparents and parents voted the same two parties into office over and over.

They believed the lies, and returned the same people to office year after year, decade after decade.

When an alternative is on the ballot, they are discredited. Could we imagine what would happen if congress was controlled by 3 or 4 parties, with no one party having more than 50% of the vote.

What is even better is that you guys are trapped so completely inside the right wing media bubble that you've somehow convinced yourselves that by not giving in to the republicans ransom demands that Obama is the one acting immature. That is a remarkable case of self delusion.

Why should our elected officials negotiate with someone who is waging financial warfare on the middle class?

This individual mandate is going to devastate the lower and middle class.

My health insurance went up 9% to a total of $599 a month. I had to drop my wife off my insurance because we could no longer afford to have her on my policy. Good thing her job provides health insurance for her.

How is a working middle class family supposed to afford $600 a month just for healthcare? Then pay a house note, buy a car, pay electric bill and buy food? And somewhere in there we are supposed to raise a family?

But for some reason we are supposed to bow down before obama?

Would it help to understand that his motivations are pure selfishness? He could care less what burdens everyone else is saddled with. He wants it for himself. It's all about him.

This is the mindset of the left. Intentions are what matters. Details are...nothing to be concerned with. I want health care and I want it NOW! I want people with more than me to contribute to what I WANT! They wrap their selfishness up in a wrapper of philanthropy in an attempt to make everyone think that their intentions are for the greater good. But we see through it because we think like adults - not children. We understand their real intentions and it angers them.

They know that this is a poorly conceived, one-sided piece of legislation that won't achieve what they truly want. But they are so emotionally invested in it for their own selfish reasons that they will not even allow it to be altered except by executive fiat by their King. Never having been concerned about the consequences of their actions, why would they be concerned now? They've got the blame game machine cranked up to max and they use it with little regard. It's normal for them to foist their shortcomings on others.

What do we want? HEALTHCARE!
When do we want it? NOW!

And if it decimates the middle class? That's the fault of the Republicans! The left will sleep well because they had the best of intentions.

I just want affordable health insurance. And I am willing to pay for it.

But I do not call $600 a month affordable.

My truck note was only $325 a month. When I finished paying the note I had a paid for truck.

And next year the government is supposed to start taxing my employer contribution? So even more money is going to be taken out of my check?

You're ignoring the main reason why Democrats are holding fast here. This has nothing to do with Obamacare and everything to do with the Democratic process this country was founded upon.

:D Obama and Dems used every trick and bribe they could to pass Obamacare in the first place, and half the time when Obama doesn't get his way he just bypasses Congress and either executive orders it or gets a government agency to do it.

Seriously... when the hell have Democrats cared about The Constitution, much less the democratic process. It's so bad now that when Obama does the same things Bush did (or worse), Democrats who protested and hated Bush for those same policies now cheer for Obama doing them.

Remember when the left pretended to be for civil rights and civil liberties and hated Bush for some now-minor wiretapping? Anyone remember that? Now Obama thinks he has the right to spy on you, indefinitely detain you without charge or trial, and even thinks he has the right to kill you.

The majority of Republicans suck too, but Democrats are even worse.

You're doing something wrong if you're paying $600/month for health insurance just for yourself and it's not Obama's fault.

I pay nothing for my health insurance, that is provided through my employer.

To have my family, including my children and my wife, on the policy it cost me $599 a month.

Taking my wife off brought it down to something like $324 a month.

Starting in October the cost of the policy went up 9%. And starting next year the government is supposed to start taxing employer contributions.

Health insurance is 600 for just me and my son each month. It has only gone up $50 in 3 years. I am self employed, so I see the real costs of insurance. This has nothing to do with the ACA. Get a real job.

This government shutdown is just BS from the Republicans.. Seems like they are doing this so they can drop the growth of the GDP by a fraction of percentage point.

Then they'll bring this all back up election time and say - see, OBAMA and the DEMS had 8 years to fix our economy but they did a lousy job and were not effective (funny math then ensues which they caused).

It's the only strategy they got left to get back into office as they are now grasping on straws..

Republicans don't need GDP going down a fraction of a point to be able to say the economy sucks.

By the way, you mentioned an important thing people who don't know should know. GDP includes government spending. So government people and dumb economists who constantly push for more spending will use the excuse that if government doesn't keep spending ridiculous amounts of money that GDP will go down. "...We just borrowed and spent $5 trillion dollars from China... look at how great our GDP number is."

I challenge anyone to find someone overseas who thinks that the Republicans are in the right here. It's all the talk here and everyone is just shaking their head in complete disbelief.

Well, probably the majority of people overseas don't believe in the right to bear arms, so the rest of their opinions are highly suspect anyway.

Just because your employer hides your health costs doesn't mean it didn't exist before.

Yes, the entire world is crazy. It's only the Tea Party that can save us.

He doesn't - he's off his meds again.

I took my meds last night.

The US needs to default, which would undermine the worlds confidence in the dollar.

Hopefully BRICS will step up and replace the dollar as the world reserve currency.

So you'd rather the US plunges into another deep recession.

The world financial markets and the government should not be in bed with each other.

To fix something, sometimes you have to break it first. The US dollar, the federal reserve and the national debt are already broke. The system needs to finish breaking so it can be rebuilt.

The accounting department of my employer said contributions would become taxable.

The accounting department of your employer was wrong. The only tax implications of health care contributions of your employer is the 'cadillac' plan tax. Contributions for health care by your employer will be present on your W-2 but they are not counted as taxable income.

Feel free to read up on this here, and pass it along to your accounting department. They seem to need some help.

We can not continue to borrow money to pay off a debt.

Non-sequtiur.

How long can the united states borrow money to pay off debt?

How long can the federal reserve print money out of thin air?

LOL, yea.

A private organization (federal reserve) should not control the worlds reserve currency.
