right now i have a 3000+ Winchester that runs stock at 1.8Ghz and i have it oc'd to 2.4GHz right now. 1GB of DDR400 ram, Sapphire X800GTO2 at 16 pipes and 535/600 and its on a ASRock DUAL939-SATA2... i think im getting another 7200rpm 8mb cache 160GB SATA drive for xmas so i should be running raid by the 26th... now my question is.... what do i need now? what is my bottleneck.. my only guess is that im running out of ram since after i play FEAR online for about 30 minutes, if i go into the room in the Factory that has teh wet floor sign and the one medipack it starts jerking whenever it has to render the lighting for the ceiling.... any suggestions taken 🙂
 
get another gigabyte of ram. Corsair has 1 gb of ram priced at 78 dollars. the ram is called Corsair Value Select. I have 2 gb right now. REALLLY FAST!! Good luck. By the way. I have the same processor.
 
No doubt, your system will only benefit from extra RAM at the moment... The rest of your components are all pretty ok... :thumbsup:
 
yeah the monitor gets to wait a while.... i dont run over 1024 anyways so it doesnt much matter untilli get a LCD.

and thanks for the reassurance that i only need ram now 🙂

Having a very nice gaming rig like that and not running above 1024 is a shame. I guess you get to turn all the settings up though 🙂
 
Fear runs ok w/ everything on MAX, including SoftShadows 🙂

what should i get after the ram? new cpu? im thinking of a 3800+ x2 or a 4000+ Sandiego or 150venus or a 165 denmark.... kinda a wide range i know 🙂
 
Hehe, he's already setting up a whole roadmap... 🙂 When that overclocked Winnie won't be up to the task anymore, you'll be most likely able to pick a lot of "cheap" Dual Cores, especially when Socket AM2 will have arrived...
 
well... i have a slot on my mobo for a M2 upgrade card 🙂 so maybe ill just get a M2 🙂 hmm..... who knows... it all depends on the price of things and whether or not ill have to use new ram... i sure hope not.
