what next for nvidia?

huh????...

I doubt Nvidia would use the 9800 numbering system...too much confusion with ATI products..maybe you mean 8900GTX

They'd never do that, way too much confusion with ATI parts also using "X". nVidia is in a little bit of a bind, what can they do after the 9800GTX or maybe 9900GTX?

By the time the 9800GTX comes out, the ATI 9800 series will be obsolete and unavailable (they kinda are already now) and AMD will have probably consumed the ATI name already so there are no worries.

Why not just go back to some old naming schemes. For example:

Geforce 9, Geforce 9 Ti 200, Geforce 9 Ti 500 ect.

Or bring back the TNT name 😀

I remember when nvidia held a contest for whoever came up with the best naming for their new line of products. Whoever came up with the name "GeForce" won the contest. This was during the RivaTNT2 domination.

I'd like to see them lose the GeForce moniker or at least change it to "Blunt Force Trauma" or something.. 😀

Or:

At least something that doesn't sound like a kids toy.

9800GTX aint such a bad idea from a marketing standpoint - 9800 was one of ATI's best cards everyone knows and loves that number maybe nV get some play off that.

In reality what next for NV is record profits as they gobble up all video card sales due to ATI being asleep.

Or bring back the TNT name

I prefer "Video Card of Slaying 9"

Change 'geforce' to 'brute force'... 😛
They might try a new name, like geforce FX, only not a technological disaster.

It'll be the 8900, and it should be expected oh...right around the R600 launch (the 8850 GX2 will be around before then)

Hopefully some new XP drivers for the G80 series.

That shall never happen.

We're talking about nV here 😉

Drivers for older hardware/platforms is never high on their list of things to do.
Heck, they don't even have proper hardware acceleration in portrait mode on their 8 series rofl.
nV + drivers = joke IMO.

Granted, ATi's have their share of issues, but nothing that's ever majorly affected me...can't say the same about nV.
