Burlington
Gloucester
Camden
Mercer
There are nice areas in each of them and you should be able to find ~1 hour transportation to the city.

Too far south for what? I live in Turnersville (right next) to sewell and it takes me like 20 min to get to work in Philly. It's a nice area, and easy commute to Philly.
