Ideally it would be less than an hour commute - train better than car and be a town that has some life or sense of community. Farm country and urban sprawl need not apply...

WAY more than an hour, but it is a very nice place - in fact, it is just the right kind of community.

Don't move to NJ, move to Delaware. 1/2 the costs and the same commute to Philly.

btw, where in Philly? north south east or west?

Has to be NJ for access to relatives in NYC/CT area. The job is in downtown Philly.

p.s. wish me luck on my interview tomorrow... :)

Then anywhere between Newtown, PA and Lawrenceville, NJ is GREAT.

Lawrenceville Train station = Great Access to NYC

and it's only about 45 minutes to downtown philly when it's not heavy traffic.

btw, you looking to buy a house or rent?

we just saw these GREAT apartments in Lawrenceville.

they were built to be townhomes but the builder decided to rent them out instead.

1700 sq ft, 2 bedroom

or 1800 st ft 3 bedroom

including 2 car garage and everything.

I live a little outside Trenton, Hamilton Township/Mercerville. Not bad of a town, pretty nice, but the taxes are sky high. My mom commutes to center city philly everyday by train (septa), takes about an hour. Also they just built a new Amtrak station about a mile away from where i live and i see those trains go by, don't wanna be stuck on the tracks when that comes, they fly!

West Windsors not bad but a tad bit higher than that.

for that price range, Newtown would really be best. Great neighborhood. Really really nice.

I live in Sewell, NJ (Washington Township/South Jersey) and love it. It's a 15 min ride to Philly and it's a really nice area. It's about 35 mins from Delaware and 40 mins from Atlantic City.

Anyone familiar with Medford / Medford Lakes?

Nice area but apartments are on the expensive side. I presume housing prices mirror the high rents.

West Windsor is a little expensive, might be out of the 500K range. Plainsboro which is 2 minutes up route 1 is cheaper and has lots of 500K houses going up.

Any chance you could find an MLS number for one of those properties?

I grew up/still live in when not here at school in Mount Laurel. Really nice town. It is about 40min to philly depending on traffic. Nice place to live. Good schools. But the houses can be expensive.

Too far south for what? I live in Turnersville (right next) to sewell and it takes me like 20 min to get to work in Philly. It's a nice area, and easy commute to Philly.
